The First Move chess curriculum was developed over the course of three years and implemented in schools in the Seattle area before it was introduced nationally.  Due to overwhelming demand, AF4C decided to offer the program to 2nd and 3rd grade students throughout the country beginning in the 2005-06 school year.

In choosing future locations, school interest, community support, and strategic growth potential are taken into consideration. The First Move chess curriculum is currently being offered in 27 states and to nearly 50,000 2nd and 3rd grade students.
